Rais Khan

Suhel Khan – Sitarist, singer, composer, musician, lyricist and more. This multifaceted artist is the son of the legendary sitarist Ustad Rais Khan, who is one of the torch bearers of the Mewati Gharana . His paternal grandfather, Ustad Mohammed Khan Saab was also a sitarist, beenkaar and subharist which a unique combination of the Khayal genre of music.
Under the musical apprenticeship of his father, Suhel Khan started at the tender age of 12. He trained in classical and semi classical and went on to follow ‘’gayaki ang’’ in his sitar and singing.
Further, he seeked musical patronage from Ustad Niaz Ahmed Khan Saab belonging to Kirana Gharana. His quench for learning did not stop there, and he also groomed himself under Ustad Sultan Khan Saab, an exponent from Sikkar Gharana.
After years of being seasoned in different music forms and absorbing the aesthetic qualities from each of his Gurus, he developed his own distinct style and carved a niche for himself. Today he generously shows gratitude to his ancestry, his Gurus and sheer hardwork.
